Memories of treasured companions created in rich watercolours:

What clients have said:
We commissioned Cathy to do a painting of our beloved flatcoat Indy. It is stunning and every time we walk past it it makes us smile. We decided against a static pose due to the nature of our girl and it really paid off. Cathy absolutely captured the essence of Indy’s active personality and her love of water and it sings out of the painting. Have a look on her pet portrait gallery and judge for yourself – Indy is the soaking wet black flatcoat with an equally soggy tennis ball heading straight towards you! Seriously, if you’ve ever considered commissioning a portrait, get in touch with Cathy – you will not be disappointed.” Nicky

“The picture is incredible. You have caught the pair of them so completely. I cannot wait to give it to her…”

“Thank you so very very much. I cannot express how totally thrilled I am.”

“Both these studies are truly exceptional and now lift our spirits each time we see them and bring back so many happy memories for us.”

“We are absolutely delighted with Catherine’s watercolour of our labrador which captures her personality beautifully as well as being a perfect likeness.”

The commissioning process:
Rich watercolours are particularly effective for capturing animals’ shiny eyes, noses and glossy coats. I have painted to commission for twenty years and can guide you through the process which begins with a visit to view your dog in their own home, where they are happiest. I take observational notes and use photographs to plan layout and to edit lighting conditions. (Posthumous portraits are also possible from edited photographs.) After you have viewed a choice of photographic mock-ups of the painting and approved the planned layout, I take a 50% deposit to start your painting. A further viewing takes place nearer to completion when adjustments can be made. I can make giclee prints from your portrait to share as gifts.
