INTERNATIONAL WATERCOLOUR MASTERS MAY 2026
I am delighted that my painting ‘Islands’ has made it through two selection stages to be hung alongside watercolour masters from around the world at the 2026 IWM Exhibition. (Details above.)
This is a detail from the much taller piece. I was inspired whilst rowing surrounded by the choppy waters of Lake Windermere in the English Lake District. It is not lost on me how many generations of watercolour painters have taken to this area which became a replacement “alps” duirng the Napoleonic Wars which restricted artists’ travel plans in nineteenth century Britain.
BATH SOCIETY OF ARTISTS 2025 OPEN EXHIBITION
My portrait of “Joanna in the RWA Drawing School” has been selected this year to hang in Bath’s Victoria Art Gallery as part of the 120th Bath Society of Artists Exhibition. The exhibition is comprised of a wide variety of paintings, drawings and sculpture and is on until Saturday 10 January 2026.
SOLO EXHIBITION ROYAL UNITED HOSPITAL, BATH FROM 11 MARCH 2025:
I am delighted to collaborate with “Art at the heart” to bring a collection of ten of my recent landscapes to brighten up the corridors at the RUH here in Bath. The works explore the theme of weather and atmosphere in radiant watercolours.

I enjoy regularly tutoring watercolours at the RWA Drawing School. My two paintings below have been chosen to be on show at the RWA this autumn at their brilliant staff exhibition.
SOLO EXHIBITION 3-5 OCTOBER 2024
ROOTED IN THE LANDSCAPE @ PACKHORSE, OLD SCHOOL HILL, SOUTHSTOKE BATH BA2 7DU
Catherine holds a solo exhibition of her work only once every two years. The current venue is upstairs at Packhorse Bath – a Jacobean community owned pub close to her studio. In October 2024 her new collection of richly coloured paintings were truly rooted in the landscape, featuring trees at their centre – from windswept groves to ancient individuals that mark the passage of centuries of time. Dramatic “optical illusions” created by sun’s rays glitter on water, filter through mists and glance off scattered leaves – all captured in luminous watercolours.

Solo exhibition wrap up: Firstly it was fantastic to see so many of you at my Solo exhibition back in October. Thank you for coming. My free watercolour demonstration on Friday 4 October was crammed with people – some viewing from the doorway. Packhorse Bath looked after us with coffees as I created a lake scene. BATH OPEN STUDIOS GROUP EXHIBITION

16 October 2023 – mid-January 2024 I exhibited my painting ‘On the wing’ with the group as part of the Combe Down Art Trail group of artists in the main corridor at the Royal United Hospital, Bath.

I exhibited two new landscapes – one of a ploughed field shown below entitled “Pinstripes and patchwork” and “Chasing Waterfalls”. They were joined by works by fellow members of the Society of Women Artists in a showcase exhibition at Patchings Art Centre near Nottingham.
