Bath Watercolour Workshops

Why not brush up on your painting techniques, loosen your painting style and learn to use this expressive medium more freely?
Bath Watercolour Workshops return this autumn to the spacious Wharf Room of Widcombe Social Club (WSC), Bath. This larger venue will enable generous social distancing, including large, distanced tables to work at. The venue has conducted a risk assessment and introduced special measures to help keep us all safe. They will provide us with a catered lunch and I will send out a materials list in advance to prevent shared equipment.

More about Atmospheric Seascapes Friday 16 October 10.30-3:
There’s nothing like the fantastic ability of watercolours to render watery subjects! This day is all about exploring the wet-in-wet properties of the media by focussing on seascapes. Bring along photographs of your favourite stretch of coast, beach, cliffs or rock pools to paint.
Try placing transparent pigment next to granular colours and watch them react. Use clingfilm for rocks and fine table salt for sand, under gravity painted skies.
There will be demonstrations of wet-in-wet painting techniques throughout and our day will end with ways to review your painting.
Our group is kept kept small to ensure social distancing, a good view of the step-by-step demonstrations plus an element of personalised tutoring during the day.
Venue: Wharf room, Widcombe Social Club, Widcombe Hill, Bath BA2 6AA.
The day costs £80 including lunch, watercolour board and tubed paints.
Please bring a table top easel, generous palette, water jar, pencil, eraser, 1 inch flat brush and a rigger brush
, masking fluid, rock or table salt and clingfilm. Don’t forget to pack your facemask.

More about Line and wash for improvers Friday 6 November 10:30-3
This workshop has been designed to help you create paintings incorporating expressive line and detail, inspired by our subject: abandoned buildings, rustic villages or farm scenes. You will also gain experience of handling flowing watercolours using a technique I call “gravity painting”.
