Sparkling light on the sea @ Cornwall School of Art

Last week we enjoyed some gorgeous seascapes full of bright light – a joyful subject to teach during my two days of workshops for Cornwall School of Art, Truro. My watercolour pictured here is based on a photo from Cot Valley near St Just. I remembered the valley walk while I was painting. It leads to a magical beach covered with giant egg-shaped boulders, perfectly rounded and multicoloured. My wet-in-wet techniques helped me to blend sea and sand where the water pours through the rocks creating sparkling channels.
