I have just spent an absorbing Saturday teaching at the lovely Chapel Cottage Studios near Abergavenny in Wales. Our session ended with experiments in lifting off paint to reveal the sunbeams through the woodland. I find that this is a really atmospheric technique with magical effects.
I regularly return to Chapel Cottage which is run by artist Jantien Powell and her daughter Tirza. There’s something special about painting under the mountains which sit just outside the large windows. You can watch the weather passing by all day!
