Friday 16 – Saturday 17 January: New year retreat for beginners

Do you want to paint with watercolours but are worried about their scary reputation? Or have you started painting in this great medium but want to loosen up your techniques and be more expressive? This painting retreat has been designed for you as a beginner. 

Over two tutored days and in a small group Catherine will bust myths and explain how forgiving watercolour can be. Using the theme of winter woodlands as inspiration she will provide a multitude of suggestions, take-home tips and techniques.

Begin with warm-up exercises looking at tone and brushstrokes. Then plan your masterpiece with demos on colour and planning before breaking for supper and arty discussion. Return on Saturday to complete your painting with one-to-one tuition, finishing with ways to review and edit paintings.
Timings: Starts 2pm Friday until 8pm including pub supper at 7. Continues Saturday 10-4 including pub lunch.
Includes: Includes all materials, Friday pub dinner and Saturday lunch, teas/coffees, demos, art handouts and an element of one-to-one tuition (maximum eight painters).
Venue: Private workroom upstairs at Packhorse Bath (Trip Advisor 2022 Travellers’ Choice) a Jacobean community-owned pub BA2 7DU.
