I will be giving a live demonstration of my watercolour portraits during this year’s Society of Women Artists Annual Exhibition:
at: Mall Galleries, The Mall, St. James’s, London SW1Y 5AS
on: Thursday 8 September 2022 from 1-2pm.
Two of my watercolour portraits will be hanging in this year’s exhibition (pictured below) which continues at Mall Galleries 6 – 11 September 2023.
I love painting portraits to commission and I am very grateful to my two sitters for the opportunity to show these works.

I am excited to be planning my exhibition of new works for 20-23 October 2022.
I exhibit solo once every two years and this year I’m keeping it local and bringing my paintings to The Packhorse Pub just along from my studio in Southstoke.
If you’d like to discover more just drop me a line. Contact Catherine Final details being confirmed – more to follow soon!
The Forest bathing workshop on Saturday 29 October is now sold out. A waiting list has been formed, however, I have now secured the venue for a second date – Friday 28 October. This is another one day workshop when we will be looking in depth at the same lovely subject – deep dappled woodland in receding blues and cool emerald greens.

I am excited that the new edition of the artist magazine includes my painting “meadow riot” with an accompanying article explaining how to paint this exuberant meadow scene.
I write about how to reserve sharp white areas of the page for daisies, as well as contrasting, soft, wet-in-wet passages of paint that can be dragged and cut through with my one inch flat brush.
The September edition is available to purchase from painters-online from 15 July via this link: https://www.painters-online.co.uk/store/latest-issue/the-artist/?utm_campaign=356317_PO%20I%20SEPT%20ISSUES%20I%20JUL11%20I%202022%20I%20DYNAMIC%20
If you haven’t dared to paint outdoors before – or have just never got around to it – put Saturday 6 August in your diary and join me capturing Bath’s spectacular waterways in line and wash.
Four gorgeous views have been researched for you to paint, some tucked away on the canal plus an iconic view of the river in central Bath. There will be chats along the way about colour, line and pooling paint as well as an element of one-to-one tuition and a final critique.
This day runs 10:30 – 3 and is suitable for all abilities. If you need materials there is an option to have them provided for you. The route is just over a mile and we will be standing for periods of time. In the event of heavy rain the day will be rescheduled for the following Saturday 13 August. More details on application.
